Paul Matthew Oberg was born in Center City, Minnesota on April 14, 1904. He earned his B.A. from the University of Minnesota in 1925. From 1926-1928, he was a fellow at the Juilliard School of music in New York City and earned his master's degree in 1938 and Ph.D. in 1944 from the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester. O. Meredith Wilson was born on 21 September 1909 in Chihuahua, Mexico, to Guy C. and Melissa Stevens Wilson. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1934 and received his Ph.D. from the University of California in 1943.
